back from a two-day stint in the sunshine state

set off early friday morning, and it was onward california!
meal stops at barstow (happy meals galore), and some wrong turns
but we eventually made it safe to mitsuwa, a japanese supermarket at costa mesa
where the girlys went crazy flipping through japanese magazines, and stocking up on (very) overpriced asian snacks
also, ikea!

barbeque after at one of louise's friends' resort-like apartment
heated pools, electric grills and all
over seventeen of us, making too much noise with the accompaniment of:
games of uno, bluff; corn on the cob, sarsi, and honey-glazed wings
headed to a park in irvine, (i know! a park! omgah i have not been to a park in yeeeears.)
that was nice, all of us girlys holding an old school lantern each
the paper type, lit by candles?
hung all our lanterns on a random tree and it's branches
and (ta-dah) - a lantern tree!
ate mooncakes,
and played on the swingset (swingset! double omgah! old school mode on) :)

good morning day two!
saturday saw us getting up bright and early to set off for din tai fung
we are so dimsum deprived
a two hour drive later,
IT WAS HELLO XIAOLONGPAU AND DANDAN NOODLES.
followed by dessert next door at phoenix
another two hour drive (including time involved in getting lost and driving in the wrong direction countless times)
and we were at energy karaoke;
highlights: honey lemon tea and um, major jay chou loving
dinner at banana bay @ rowland heights
good ol' thai food, with bigscreen football on, (USC vs. arkansas -- arkansas got massacred 70-17) a live band, and very good pineapple fried rice indeedy-doo
haha diamond plaza after that,
which was swarming (read: abundantly filled) with young chinese people
girlys
karwin, felix
it was very surreal, like stepping into an alternate universe, what with all the...
chinese.
i felt.. so.. well. like the majority.

her place had incredible flowers, in full bloom
vegas... needs humidity.

so the obvious choice would be..

after some minor confusion on destinations,
more wrong turns..

haha, we strolled, we shopped
took silly photos and chatted up strangers with cute puppies
at urban outfitters
spent forever in a tres cool store,
warhol type obey paintings, floor stenciling, fantastic murals
complete with it's own dj,
postcards proclaiming the new relase of the coheed and cambria album (9/21)
and the requisite cool people hanging around outside
sitting there, talking on their cell, postboy hats and all
and oh, wearing:

more walking led to me running towards this poster,
and falling completely in love

and oh! red carpet event! some tv guide thingamajig
more fun was our lame emulations of various differnt things,
