People always give Singapore such flak.
The rigidity, the humidity of our homeland, the heat OH the heat.. But everything I.. Relish. Not necessarily enjoy all the time, but I accept. Most of the time with pleasure.
(Propoganda worked on me for sure. I actually have this post that's been saved in drafts for forever about me+sg but I figured I would wax poetic about this first.)
And there are still times that I'm driving down some expressway or walking down one of our many insanely crowded streets.. And I just think.. It's so nice to be home. Particularly at times like this.. 2:39am on a work night (try to hide your disbelief. I napped.) during monsoon season. Windows wide open and the amazing (to me at least. I know i grossly overuse the word amazing. Other than jing and PDB and G's grace there's not that much that really is amazing. Natch.)... Wait what was I saying again?
Right.
Night air.
Seriously the scent of Singapore's night air is about 352 kinds of amazing. Especially in November when the air is so unbelievably cool and all the smells seem intensified. Like all smells, it brings with it a myriad of memories.. Not all specific ones but certain instances.. Mostly memories of going to school and having to be up by 6 and out of the house before the sun was up.. And memories of JC days where it was a different underage party every couple of days (yes. so hardcore) and everyone still dressed up to go out and then stumbled home semi-high on cheap and watered down alcohol in the depths of the night after an extended supper and then the same ol' 'who shares cabs with who!' and 'who am i going to text now!' game afterwards. Holy run-on. On hindsight, such good times. I don't have the vocab prowess to well describe our incredible night air but I just know I lovez itz. Very therapeutic. Head-clearing.
Did I just pen a post about the night air of Singapore?
And abuse the use of parentheses?
Heck yes.

PDB:
Um yes I'm not ashamed to say I adore this song. GB needs to cover it STAT so I can swoon and sway and embed the bananas out of it. (let me preface by saying that I've gone through like 15 covers and I'm convinced that Gabe would knock it out of the park if he tried. COME ON GABE. DO IT FOR THE FANS. Also.. I'm kind of in love with the amount of Asian American singers on youtube.. Yay American brethren for reppinnnnn'.)
so leave it behind cause we have a night to get away,
so come on and fly with me as we make our great escape
so baby don't worry, you are my only
you won't be lonely, even if the sky is falling down
you'll be my only, no need to worry
baby are you down?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY V ♥

Okay long overdue but our dearest Vern celebrated her 23rd last month and she started her party somewhere fairly.. Unconventional. To say the least.
Bear in mind that the theme of this year's party was SKANKY AND SLEAZY (ok there was another name for it but I'm trying to keep it PG here.) I'm thinking we made quite the impression on the regular patrons of the grassroots club. Free flow Chinese food all night.. And suffice it to say we were STUFFED. Like.. 'holy cow i never want to see another bowl of eefu noodles' stuffed.
We love you V - no two ways about it - We love you.

**MASSIVE POST AHEAD **
This Summer, before I fell into the deep waters that is the real world.. I headed down under to vic/wa for 2 weeks of vacay time. Arrived 1am to a rainy Melbourne and we were met by wheis and her adorable ninjamobile. Had yummilicious late night pancakes made by mr. t and received oodles (honestly how old school is the world 'oodles') of love and pouncy excitement from a certain charlie poodle brown.
melbourne day one
gmorning charlie b!
Started the morning with some pizza sandwiches (thanks huis!) and some charlie b sandwiching.. Oh you know what I mean. Had my first experience with the melby tram system and a big ass supre.. What can I say. I love me some (a lot of) supre. Also bought some major overpriced lipstick (HAHHA. I ORIGINALLY SPELT IT AS LIMPSTICK. btw said lipstick turned out to be drying and icky. revlon nude attitude i'm lookin at you. i blame myself for being blinded by youtube) from david jones and then did dinner with wynji at red ant. tenren after in the nippy cold with the melbournians and their pups ♥

with yosh at tenren/ wassup melby tram system/ waking up to charlie b
wheis/ blesfrends/ we heart beanbags
the missing icecream/ after dinner at red ant/ pre-melbourne excitement!
melbourne day two
It took us a while to get our bearings right with brunswick.. But i came away with two brill finds from the thrift store that i wear all the time now (fomal cardigan? huge silk ivory button down? can i get a hell yes?) I did get hit with a massive stomach upset en route and just about keeled over.. but a hot chocolate and some lunch quickly remedied me and the afternoon went on. Dfo + massive meat mania at stalactites for supper.

at brunswick/ tea from san churro/ supper at stalactites
digging into the meat parade/ fisheyefun/ thrift store
hot chocolate at radio/ cold at dfo/ lunch at brunswick
melbourne day three
Eventually got to St Kilda's following huis' advice ("you can get off when you feel that it looks right!!") .. And of course my intuition is you know.. Spot on. So we got off about 5 stops too early annnd took a half hour hike to the main area of St Kilda's.
And when we got there we were like "OHHH!!! HUIS WAS RIGHT! WE *FEEL* IT NOW". lol.

We reached our breaking point with Western Food (we honestly are too Asian for our own good) and some very disappointing dessert topped it all off. By that point we were pining and burning for Asian food - something anything feed us rice please.
And what's for dinner in Melbourne? WELL. UM. CUP NOODLES FROM 7/11 OF COURSE. (I know. To help my craving though I had it in tom yam. YAY ASIAN FLAVORS~*)

Spent the last day having fish and chips in St Kilda with charlie + yosh + their parents and then max brenner's after for a chocolate fix and an asianpeople fix. Truefax.
More from my time in Perth.. The city I always make fun of but is secretly one that I quite adore. Yes PDB, you were right.
